2 Men Arrested In Killing Of 90-Year-Old Carver Co. Farmer
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — Sheriff's deputies say a tip helped them find the men responsible for killing a 90-year-old farmer in his home.
Earl Olander died last month. Investigators say intruders bound his hands, beat him, then stole from his house.
Deputies say that stolen property is what led to the arrest of two men.
After a month-long search for a suspect, the Carver County Sherrif's Office has arrested two men in connection with the killing of 90-year-old farmer Earl Olander.
In San Francisco Township on Tuesday, feelings of shock and fear from a brutal murder are subsiding and replaced with relief.
Olander was remembered by his neighbors and friends with a memorial outside his Carver home.
Lois Scott and her husband Jerry say Olander was kind and gentle and that everyone liked him.
"We are really rather happy, extremely happy that they've been caught," Lois Scott said. "We played together a lot. I spent a lot of time at his house and got to know him very well. ... Very nice man, everybody's friend. I don't think he had an enemy in the world. It's just so sad."
Investigators say a tip led police to Olander's stolen property. The property led to two arrests.
Neighbors can breathe a little easier, and now hope for justice for Earl.
"I can't hardly wait until we can find out their names," Jerry Scott said. "Now we can relax here, too."
Charges are expected Wednesday. The Carver County Sheriff will speak around 4 p.m. to give more details on the case.
