2 Dead, 1 Injured In 3 Separate Incidents Overnight In Mpls.
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Two people are dead and one man is seriously injured after three separate incidents overnight in Minneapolis, according to police.
A man was shot Friday just before midnight on the 2700 block of Blaisdell Avenue South. He was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center, where he later died from his injuries.
Around 2:20 a.m. Saturday, police were called to a report of a stabbing at 4th Avenue South and Franklin Avenue East. The female victim was also transported to HCMC, where she later died.
A second shooting occurred near West Broadway Avenue and Aldrich Avenue North at about 4 a.m., leaving one man hospitalized.
Police say three men in vehicle were involved in an argument with a man in another vehicle. That man was shot three times in the torso, but was able to pull over and call 911.
The victim was taken to North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale, where he underwent surgery. He is in serious condition but is expected to survive.
Police spokesman John Elder says despite this string of violence, it's been relatively quiet around Minneapolis for the last month.
"The weekend of July Fourth was a difficult weekend," Elder said, referring to the three shootings and two deaths that weekend in north Minneapolis. "We haven't had much since then, so we seem to have kind of an ebbing and flowing with our numbers and with the homicides."
No one is currently in custody for any of these incidents.
Anyone with information about these cases is asked to contact Minneapolis Police.
