2-Car Crash Closes Northbound I-35E Near Hugo

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Parts of Interstate 35E are closed Tuesday morning due to a car accident.

According to the Minnesota Department of Transportation, northbound I-35E is closed at Highway 14 near the Hugo area.

The State Patrol said the accident occurred shortly after 4:45 a.m. A Chevy Tahoe and a Chevy Silverado, driven by 49-year-old Paul Maurstad of Vadnais Heights, were traveling north on I-35E when the Tahoe struck Maurstad.

The Tahoe then lost control, went into a ditch and rolled.

There are injuries as a result of the crash, but the extent is unknown at this time. Emergency crews are on the scene and air care has been dispatched to the scene.
