State Patrol: Person Seriously Injured In Pile-Up On Icy Highway 169

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- One person has been seriously injured after they were struck outside their vehicle by another vehicle in an icy pile-up on Highway 169 Wednesday morning.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, the incident happened around 4:45 a.m. on southbound Hwy. 169 at a bridge that crossed over Interstate 694 in Brooklyn Park. There, vehicles traveling southbound lost control on "an icy bridge deck", causing the pile-up.

One of the vehicle occupants got out of their vehicle and was struck by a Honda Odyssey. The victim was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

The state patrol says there were 10 vehicles involved in the crash. There were no additional serious injuries.
