10-year-old girl struck while running across road, SUV fled scene

Young girl injured in Brooklyn Park hit-and-run near bus stop

MINNEAPOLIS —  A 10-year-old girl was struck by an SUV Wednesday night while running across the road. 

The incident happened near Lowery Avenue North and Sheridan Avenue North in Minneapolis around 5:50 p.m. 

Minneapolis police say that a grey SUV was involved and that the driver of the car did not stop. The girl was taken to Hennepin Healthcare. She is expected to be ok. 

Minneapolis police are investigating the crash and no arrests have yet been made. 

Last month three children were struck by cars in the metro area, two were hit-and-run drivers. A 12-year-old girl was injured in Brooklyn Park on Oct. 3, she suffered moderate injuries. The following day a 10-year-old boy was also hit in Brooklyn Park. Two days later a 7-year-old boy was hit in north Minneapolis.
