1 Dies After Chain-Reaction Crash In Isanti County

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- One person was killed and another injured after a chain-reaction crash in Isanti County Wednesday afternoon.

The crash happened along Highway 95 in North Branch Township at about 5:20 p.m.

A Kia Soul that was stopped or slowing down to take a left turn on Hornsby Street Northeast was rear-ended by a Dodge Caliber. The Kia was then pushed into a Ford Fiesta that was facing the opposite direction.

The driver of the Kia received injuries that were not life-threatening, but the passenger in the Kia died as a result of injuries sustained in the crash. He was identified by authorities as 56-year-old David Lavern Winberg, of North Branch.

Everyone involved was wearing seat belts, and alcohol is not considered to have been a factor in the crash.
