1 Dead As Train Strikes Car In Moorhead

MOORHEAD, Minn. (AP) — One person has been killed in Moorhead after a train struck a vehicle on the tracks.

Clay County Sheriff Bill Bergquist says a BNSF Railway train hit a car in south Moorhead at about 9 a.m. Saturday. The southbound train dragged the vehicle about a third of a mile before stopping.

Bergquist says both crossing arms at the intersection were down at the time of the incident. One arm was broken during the accident.

BNSF and the sheriff's office will investigate the incident. Bergquist hopes two witnesses can help piece together what happened.
