1 dead, 1 seriously injured in north Minneapolis shooting

1 killed in north Minneapolis double shooting

MINNEAPOLIS — Minneapolis police say one man is dead and another man has life-threatening injuries after a double shooting overnight on the northside.

According to police, the shooting happened shortly before 12:15 a.m. Friday on the 800 block of Russell Avenue North.

Officers located one man in his 20s with a potentially life-threatening gunshot wound in an alley near the 2300 block of Oak Park Avenue. The man was treated at the scene and taken to Hennepin Healthcare.

A second man, also in his 20s, arrived at the same hospital in a passenger vehicle, police said. The man, who also had a gunshot wound, died later at the hospital.

Police say evidence of gunfire was found in the alley near the original reported location, including damage to a house.

According to preliminary information from police, the shooting involved individuals known to each other. No arrests have been announced.
