'You're G*d Damn Right' Stephen Ross is Getting Antsy

The juiciest words to open the preseason sourced from the top of the Miami Dolphins organization.

Asked if he's starting to get antsy for results, the Dolphins owner of six seasons didn't hesitate.

"You're G*d damn right!" Stephen Ross proclaimed, evoking deep laughter from the media.

Can you blame him? Since purchasing controlling interest of the franchise from Wayne Huizenga in February 2008, Ross has never experienced a winning season, suffering through a 43-53 record comprised of staggering mediocrity.

Following back-to-back 8-8 seasons and knowing Ross whipped out the checkbook this summer to extend key players and bring on arguably the league's best defensive player in Ndamukong Suh, patience has to be dwindling.

"I told Steve when I interviewed that I wanted a build a team that consistently competed for and won championships," Joe Philbin said. "That's why we do what we do and that's why they make the sacrifices they make. Everybody in this organization does the same. There is the AFC East Championship, there is the AFC Championship, and there is the Super Bowl Championship. Nothing has been decided. Those to me are really destinations -- the Super Bowl is a destination, it's not necessarily a goal. That's why we invest and pour our hearts and souls into this stuff, to compete for championships."

With the record reset to 0-0, it all sounds good, but what's to say the 2015 version is ready to take the leap into contender status? For one, their most important player is evoking a powerful sense of confidence we haven't seen before, going as far as mentioning the "S" word on Day 1.

"I feel like we have every piece that we need," Ryan Tannehill said. "It's a matter of how we can come together as a team, how we can perform during crunch time and that's what we're working at here and for the next however many weeks it is until the Super Bowl."

Whether it's the owner or the coach or the players, the Miami Dolphins know 2015 is a year devoid of excuses -- with super expectations.
