Woman shot during possible Oakland burglary

FORT LAUDERDALE – A woman is now facing charges after deputies believe she was shot during a burglary in Oakland Park early Sunday morning.

Around 5:04 a.m., Broward County Sheriff's Office was called out to a shooting near 4900 NE 13th Terr., where deputies found 31-year-old Ruika Abdulrahman shot in the arm. Deputies provided her first aid before she was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

"I heard a single gunshot, I knew it was a gunshot. I was just sitting there wondering what's going on and then like five minutes later, I heard police cars," said Rocco Kryns who lives in the neighborhood. "I've been here over 20 years and never seen anything like it."

Upon further investigation, BSO said the shooting was related to a burglary and arrested Abdulrahman. BSO has yet to reveal what charges she is facing.
