FT LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) - One woman was killed, a man injured in an overnight drive-by shooting in Pompano Beach.

It happened just after 11 p.m. Tuesday in front of a home at NW 2nd Street and 31st Avenue.

The Broward Sheriff's Office said a woman was pronounced dead on the scene. She was identified by family and friends as 26-year-old Tyqueshia Reid, nicknamed Kiki.

"She didn't deserve it, she didn't," said neighbor Pamela Hightower. "Every night there's some type of shooting activity."

Maurice Beckett said he was getting ready to go to work on the night shift when he heard the sound of rapid gunfire. He said there were 15 to 20 gunshots.

"When it was over with I stepped out the door and seen a young lady laying down and another young man was shot in the leg. The young lady was shot in the head," said Beckett.

Beckett said neighbors attempted CPR on the woman but she was not moving.

Hightower said something needs to be done.

"We've been calling the cops and we knew this was gonna happen," she said.

Reid's family said she was running away when she was cut down by a hail of bullets.

"She was trying to get into the gate," said Reid's godfather Robert Maxwell.

He added she collapsed and died just steps from his door, "When all the shooting started, she just didn't make it."

Friends said the man who was shot in the leg was Reid's ex-boyfriend. His mother, Juantiez Maxwell, identified him as Antonio Tubbs. She said she saw her son moments after he was shot.

"He said mom I'm okay, he said it just hurts," she said.

Maxwell said her son was hit just once and will be okay.

Family members said Reid, who had five-year-old, had lost custody but had turned her life around. She was recently promoted at her work and was supposed to get her son back on Wednesday.

"She didn't supposed (sic) to die, she was not the target," said her cousin Shanteria Barnes.
