Suspect arrested in deadly stabbing of woman found off I-95 ramp in Broward
FORT LAUDERDALE - The Broward County Sheriff's Office said Saturday that a woman has been arrested in connection with the fatal stabbing of another woman whose body was found two days ago off of Interstate 95.
Jennyford Wilson Rivas, 46, was taken into custody on a murder charge along with obstruction without violence as well as an outstanding warrant out of Miami-Dade County for battery, according to a written statement from the sheriff's office.
Officials have not publicly identified the woman who was killed.
Officials said someone called the county's 911 line around 11:30 p.m. Thursday about a dead body near the Broward Boulevard ramp to southbound I-95.
Both Florida Highway Patrol troopers and Fort Lauderdale police were dispatched to the area where they found the who was pronounced dead. The ramp was closed during the investigation.
The sheriff's office has taken over the murder probe.
Investigators said it appears the victim had a physical altercation with another woman before the stabbing but officials did not say if they know what led to the dispute or if the woman knew the person who stabbed her.
The medical examiner's office is expected to conduct an autopsy to determine the cause of death, officials said.
