MIAMI (CBSMiami) – An investigation is underway in Northwest Miami-Dade after an argument turns fatal, according to police.

Miami-Dade Police were called out to a shopping center off N.W. 186th Street and 75th Avenue shortly before 4:00 a.m. Sunday. Detectives said there was some sort of argument in the parking lot before gunfire erupted.

Several businesses in the area were still open, startling employees.

"Some customers were eating at the Los Verdes restaurant and when they left, they were involved in an argument but I don't know anything else," said Oscar Quintero, who works at the shopping center.

Miami-Dade Police said the woman was sitting inside a silver Nissan when she was shot.

"I just heard three shots. I didn't think anything of it and probably about five, ten minutes later, I started seeing police cars arriving. Ambulance and lights all over the place," said Rashee Miles.

The woman was airlifted to Ryder Trauma Center where she later died from her injuries. The male driver was questioned by detectives to determine his involvement, if any.

Residents said it's worrisome something like this happened in a quiet area.

"It happens every day, every neighborhood," said Miles. "Every type of neighborhood is susceptible to some type of violence."

Police have not released the woman's name and they have not said whether anyone's been arrested in the case.

If you have any information about the shooting contact Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at (305) 471-TIPS.
