Unfortunately, firefighters with Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue could not save three pets.

A large dog and two cats that had already succumbed to the hazardous environment were located within the bedroom.

Firefighters quickly removed the pets and attempted to resuscitate them using pet rescue equipment that is located on all Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue vehicles.

After fifteen minutes of trying to revive the animals, firefighters could not save them.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

The Red Cross is assisting the home's occupant.
