Weapon, Watch Stolen By Burglar Who Was Caught On Video
DEERFIELD BEACH (CBSMiami) – The Broward Sheriff's Office is looking for a man caught on video creeping around a home in Deerfield Beach right before he broke into the house and stole an expensive watch and a dangerous weapon.
A neighbor's security camera captured video of the thief walking around the home in the 1400 block of SW 1st Terrace on December 16th around 9:30 in the morning.
The burglar attempted to enter Mathew Ladd's home through several impact windows and caused thousands of dollars of damage in the process. But once he did get inside, he ransacked the home and stole a 9mm Smith and Wesson handgun and a Rolex watch.
The Rolex is silver with a black face and a silver dial. It is engraved on the back with "Professional Solutions On Time On Budget Advanced Roofing." The watch was given to Ladd as a gift and holds significant sentimental value. Detectives believe the thief pawned the Rolex at the Swap Shop in Fort Lauderdale where it was purchased by an unknown male on January 17, 2014.
The suspect is approximately 5'7" tall with shoulder-length dreadlocks worn in a ponytail. He wore a black shirt, dark pants and white plastic bags on both hands. The video also captured a black Nissan Altima seen driving past the victim's home multiple times during the break-in, which is believed to be involved in the crime.
