FT LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) - U.S. Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz isn't going anywhere.

The outspoken South Florida congresswoman has confirmed that she will not be running for a Senate seat in next year's election, according to CNN.

Wasserman Schultz said she planned to finish out her House term and her stint as Chairwoman of the Democratic National Committee, which wraps up in January 2017.

Wasserman Schultz's announcement comes on the heels of another well-known Florida politico - Charlie Crist - that he too would not make a run for the U.S. Senate in 2016.

The announcement by both Wasserman Schultz and Crist could make a decision easier for Democratic colleagues Reps. Patrick Murphy and Alan Grayson who have both expressed an interest in making a run for the Senate seat currently occupied by Marco Rubio, who is up for re-election in 2016.

Rubio, who is considering making a presidential run, has said he would not pursue his Senate seat if he does decide to run for Oval Office.
