Wade, Heat Beat Nets For Third Straight Victory

NEW YORK (CBSMiami/AP) — The Miami Heat seem to be hitting their stride.

Dwyane Wade scored 10 of his 28 points in the fourth quarter, and Hassan Whiteside had 20 points and 13 rebounds as the Heat beat the Brooklyn Nets 104-98 on Wednesday night.

Goran Dragic added 16 points, Gerald Green had 13 and Justise Winslow scored 11 for Miami, which has won three straight games.

Brook Lopez scored 25 and Jarrett Jack had 22 points and 10 assists for the Nets, who dropped the final three games of their six-game homestand.

The Heat led by 11 points on Wade's basket with 5:14 left in the third quarter, but the Nets pulled within 86-85 on Donald Sloan's three-point play with 7:31 left in the game.

The Heat then went on an 11-2 streak, capped by another basket by Wade with 4:09 remaining.

The Nets cut it to 101-98 when Jack made three free throws with 1:01 left. However, Wade countered with a floater with 43 seconds remaining and Dragic closed out the scoring with a free throw with 5 seconds left.

The Nets made their first five shots and took a 26-16 lead on Bojan Bogdanovic's 3-pointer with 2:49 left in the first quarter. Miami rallied and took the lead for good at 44-42 on Green's 3-pointer with 4:58 left in the first half. The Heat then took a 55-50 halftime lead on Dragic's coast-to-coast layup with less than a second left.

Wayne Ellington finished with 12 points and Andrea Bargnani had 10 for Brooklyn.

TIP-INS:

Heat: The Heat have beaten the Nets five straight and in 10 of their last 12 meetings on the road. Miami last lost to Brooklyn on April 8, 2014. . The Heat have hit at least one 3-pointer in 297 consecutive games, the third-longest streak in team history.

Nets: Shane Larkin, who sustained a concussion at the Nets' practice on Tuesday and has not yet been cleared to play, missed his first game of the season. . The Nets just completed a six-game homestand, their longest since playing six straight as the New Jersey Nets from March 4-17, 2011.
