CORAL SPRINGS (CBSMiami) – It's the final dramatic moments of a suspected deadly road rage incident in Coral Springs.

The video shows Paul Peterman lunging out of his pickup truck and into the cab of Joshua Tullis' vehicle.

"He all of a sudden gets out of his car and dives through my client's window, does not go thru the passenger door, but dives, gets his body half way in and starts attacking my client," said Tullis' attorney Eric Schwartzreich.

CBS4's Ted Scouten was shown a portion of the video Tullis shot while driving home from work last Thursday.

Tullis is a firefighter with the Broward Sheriffs Office. He said Peterman was dangerous on the road and that's why he began recording.

"He doesn't know if there's going to be a crash, he doesn't know if he's impaired," said Schwartzreich. "I don't know why he's driving aggressively. He didn't know."

When the two got to Atlantic Blvd and Riverside Drive, Schwartzreich said Peterman turned, then pulled over.

Tullis did the same and kept shooting video, capturing the attack on camera then quickly driving off in a panic, finding out only later that Peterman died.

"He left the zone of danger," said Schwartzreich. "He goes home, he sees on the news, he sees the truck on the news and the person has been airlifted and then we contact the police, we go in, we cooperate, we show them the video tape."

Marc Wites is the Peterman family attorney.  He tells us Peterman was deaf -- a hard worker, with no criminal history and engaged to be married.

He said the family has a lot of questions.

"They'd like to know why this off duty firefighter pulled off on the side of the road," said Wites. "Why was his window open, why was he videotaping, why did he leave the scene without rendering aid to Mr. Peterman."

Coral Springs police say it could be two or three weeks before they release any information, like what they actually believe happened out there on the roadway and how Peterman died.
