Victims Of Alleged Altercation With Pouncey Twins Announce Lawsuit
MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Miami Dolphins Center Mike Pouncey, and his twin brother—also a football player—could be facing a lawsuit as a result of an incident at a South Beach nightclub that happened over the weekend.
Ricky Vazquez 24, posted a video on social media swollen and crying after he says he was punched by the Pouncey brothers at Cameo nightclub.
Now Vazquez, along with two other alleged victims Niya Pickett, 32, and Brentley Williams, 24, said Tuesday they plan to sue the football players.
The group claims they were injured during an alleged assault, around 4 AM Saturday morning, during a birthday party held at Cameo for Mike Pouncey and his twin brother Maurkice, who plays for the Pittsburgh Steelers.
"I just remember asking them not to touch me anymore and then I got hit or beat up as I was drug out of the club by security or bouncers," said Vazquez.
Over the phone, Vazquez told CBS4 News he did not recognize the Pouncey brothers. It was only after he was allegedly roughed up that he says he was told by others that the players were involved.
Miami Beach Police say they are still investigating the incident. They did respond to Cameo for reports of an assault but they can't confirm whether either of the Pouncey brothers are considered suspects or whether the brothers are under investigation at all.
On the radio Monday, Mike Pouncey told the Andy Slater Show he had nothing to do with the incident and Cameo is clearing it up with police. He also said it's come to a point where he cannot go out without people trying to make a story out of him.
CBS4 reached out to the Miami Dolphins, Pittsburgh Steelers and Cameo but have not received a response.
