Victim Identified In Hollywood Hit & Run
HOLLYWOOD (CBSMiami) – Red light cameras were rolling capturing cars moving through a Hollywood street, including a hit and run earlier this week.
At 8:12 p.m. on Monday, tragedy struck as Angel Mikki Larouge, 47, was hit in the cross walk, first by a White Ford Expedition and then by a 2002 Silver Hyundai.
Cameras caught a man in red, who police say, was driving the Expedition. He stops looks back at the accident and does nothing. Then, police say, he leaves and later comes back to the same gas station. He sees police and leaves again for good.
The victims landlord in East Hollywood said Larouge was probably catching a bus.
"I think she was catching a bus, but to be run over twice by two cars just for trying to catch a bus, it's unfortunate," said Daniel Cote, the victim s landlord.
Police are asking for the public's help to find the two drivers involved in the hit and run.
It happened at the intersection of State Road 7 and Hollywood Boulevard. Larouge was crossing the street when she was first struck by the white SUV, possibly an older model Ford Expedition.
Police said the SUV, which will have damage on its front and right front, was last seen heading west on Hollywood Boulevard.
Larouge was then run over a second time by a newer model light or silver-colored small car, believed by police to be a Hyundai Elantra, which should have front and left front wheel well damage. That vehicle was last seen heading north on SR 7.
She was taken to Memorial Regional Hospital and is in critical condition.
Anyone with information on the SUV or the small silver car is urged to call Hollywood Police at (954) 967-4357 or Crime Stoppers (954) 493-TIPS.
