NORTH LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) -- The search is on for a gunman who shot a man outside of a busy nightspot early Saturday morning.

Broward Sheriff's Office deputies responded to Players Sports Bar & Grill at 5280 N. State Road 7 where Terry Anthony Thompson, 34, was shot following an altercation.

It happened in the parking lot around 3 a.m. in front of a crowd of dozens.

Detectives believe the argument may have stemmed from the victim's car being blocked in by a white, older model Chevy Suburban with rust along its hood, according to BSO Spokeswoman Gina Carter.

Thompson was shot in the chest and torso, and managed to walk from his car to the restaurant's front door before collapsing.

"Our victim was shot multiple times and is really now fighting for his life," said Carter. "He is now on life support at Broward Health Medical Center."

The shooter fled in his white Suburban. Detectives noticed a white baseball cap with red lettering displayed on the dashboard.

If you know anything that can help find the gunman, there's up to a $3,000 reward for information leading to an arrest.

Call Crimestoppers at (954) 493-TIPS (8477).
