VCU's Michael Gilmore To Transfer To Miami

The University of Miami's men's basketball team just got a new player.
CBS Sports' John Rothstein reported Monday that former Virginia Commonwealth University forward Michael Gilmore will transfer to UM.

Gilmore, a 6-foot-10 Jacksonville native, averaged 3.2 points and 2.8 rebounds in limited action for the Rams this past season. Per NCAA rules, Gilmore will have to sit out the 2016-17 season. He would then have two years of eligibility left to play for the Hurricanes.
Miami finished the 2015-16 season 27-8 and made it to the Sweet 16 before losing to eventual national champion Villanova. The Canes had four seniors on its roster this past season - including starters Angel Rodriguez, Sheldon McClellan and big man Tonye Jekiri.
Gilmore - who's the nephew of Naismith Hall of Famer Artis Gilmore and was a three-star recruit with offers from Kansas State, South Carolina and Miami coming out of Jacksonville Rickards High School - has the skill set to be a "stretch four" for the Canes with his solid shooting mechanics and overall athleticism.
