UM Students Support Ouster Of Coach Golden
MIAMI (CBSMiami) - Students on the University of Miami campus say the firing of head football coach Al Golden on Sunday was a long time coming.
Some expected it might happen at the end of the year. After Clemson clobbered the Canes on Saturday's 58-0, many were glad UM fired Golden now.
"It's one of the worst coaching situations that I think has happened in recent memory, certainly for our team," freshman Nadav Friedman said. "They're (Clemson) a very good team. We deserved it because we weren't playing well and I'm glad the school is doing the right things to make a difference."
"So close against Florida State and then to just have such a devastating to me shows that it was time to make a change," Harry Ford told CBS4 reporter Donna Rapado. "I think it was an appropriate change."
News of Golden's termination led some outspoken die-hard to take to Twitter.
University of Miami please set up a committee of former players so they can have input into picking the new coach.

One of the few guys who ever believed in me and gave me a legit shot to play college football. This hurts.

Blake James waited for a hard decision to become an easy decision, but still made the right decision. All that matters is his next decision.

Back on campus, students agreed.
"What really matters is replacing him," Friedman pointed out. "It's no solution to the problem if the coach is gone but there's no one to replace him."
UM named assistant coach Larry Scott the interim head coach.
