MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- A University of Miami student has passed away after attending the Ultra Music Festival over the weekend.

Adam Levine, a senior majoring in political science, was first treated by festival security before paramedics were called in.

"Our security personnel noticed that Adam was having difficulties and immediately called Miami Fire paramedics so medical assistance could occur," said Ray Martinez, Chief of Security for Ultra Music Festival.

Levine was transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital where he later died.

The university issued a statement, saying in part:

"Truly beloved by all, Adam's outgoing, caring personality and sense of humor was known to always make his friends smile. Adam was a member of the Alpha Epsilon Pi fraternity where he served as a beloved brother and respected officer and leader in the Greek community. With a remarkably joyful disposition, he enjoyed helping his fellow students."

The school offered counseling and support services for the UM community.
