MIAMI BEACH (CBSMiami) – Authorities have released pictures of the man they said left two suspicious packages a Miami Beach postal store Wednesday.

According to Miami Beach Fire Rescue, an individual reportedly brought in two envelopes to the United States Postal Service office located at Washington Avenue and 13th Street.

The man attempted to buy stamps for the envelopes, but a postal worker felt something was off.

"I do know that the postal authorities that were dealing with him found his behavior to be suspicious and it did not seem to be a normal transaction going on," said Postal Inspector Blad Rojo.

It turned out both envelopes were addressed to the FBI.

"That alerted the staff who then called in the FBI. The FBI came here," said Miami Beach Fire Rescue Division Chief Tim Howarth.

The postal staff tried to question him, but he became irate and took off in an unknown direction.

This prompted a major response and even bigger scene.

In came Miami-Dade County police, Miami Beach police, City of Miami Police, the FBI, the FDLE, U.S. Postal Inspectors plus hazmat and the bomb squad. All of them working together to figure out what this man was up to.

Officials said hazmat crews and the bomb squad cleared the letters, meaning there is no problem with them. However, they still haven't said what was inside them.

As far as the individual is concerned, he is a person of interest. Though authorities said he technically hasn't done anything wrong, they just want to talk to him.

"This is a person of interest. We are not taking about a suspect or anybody who made any threats of did anything dangerous," explained Rojo.

Anyone with info on his whereabouts is urged to call 1 (877) 876-2455.
