MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- Donald Trump's victory in the race to be the 45th president has sparked a social media protest.
Thousands of Twitter users, including some big names like Katy Perry and Questlove, opted to black out their profile and header pictures to protest Trump's win.
The #TwitterBlackout movement has also spread to Instagram and Facebook after gaining momentum Wednesday morning.
Some users claim they are trying to create unity with the movement while others claim it's to support those targeted by Trump during his campaign like women, people of color and the LGBTQ community among others.
