Trump addresses Hispanic Leadership Conference in Miami

Former President Donald Trump speaks to Hispanic Leadership Conference in Miami

MIAMI - Former President Donald Trump took to the stage Wednesday as the keynote speaker at the Hispanic Leadership Conference.

"We are here this afternoon to celebrate one of the fastest growing groups in the entire country: proud, Hispanic Conservatives and Republicans," he said.

The event was organized by the America First Policy Institute and held at the Intercontinental Hotel in downtown Miami.

The 45th president spoke for about an hour, covering a wide range of topics as part of, what he called, an "American first agenda."

He discussed public safety and border patrol, as well as the economy and building business.

He also addressed why he says he did more for the Latino population than any other president:

"Under our leadership, household income for Hispanic Americans reached an all-time high, and Hispanic American unemployment rate reached an all-time low," he said.

While he still has not explicitly said he is running for President again, he claimed the reason the FBI execution of the search warrant at Mar-a-Lago happened was because he was "doing so well in the polls."

"They are targeting me because they want to silence me, silence you, and silence our amazing "Make America Great Again" movement.

From the podium, Trump acknowledged several Republican representatives from South Florida in attendance, including U.S. Representatives Mario Díaz-Balart and Carlos Gimenez, State Representative Danny Perez, and State Senator Ileana García.

The last time the former president was in South Florida was back in March at FLA Arena in Sunrise as part of his American freedom tour.
