DORAL (CBSMiami) – It was a big welcome for Donald Trump as thousands of supporters attended his first campaign stop in South Florida Friday night.

But shortly after taking the stage, protesters stole the show.

"Don't hurt them," Trump said during the commotion.

Five times people were yanked from the ballroom by private security.

"Go home. Go back to where you come from. Get out of here," a supporter yelled at the protesters.

Many were protesting his fiery words about immigration.

"Keep families together! Stop the deportation, it costs up money," the protester screamed as they were taken away.

Back in the ball room, Trump touted that he has thousands of Hispanic workers and strong support from Latin voters.

"I'm winning with the Hispanic," Trump said to big cheers from the crowd. "I keep telling everyone I'm going to win with Hispanics."

But he stuck to his guns about plans for a wall on the border.

"Build the wall," someone from the crowd yelled to him.

"We have a lot to do. We will build the wall. We will build the wall," he said.

And he addressed the polls.

"I'm winning Florida, I'm beating Bush and Rubio," he said.

While he said he's mostly winning across the board, he acknowledged his new second place showing in Iowa behind Ben Carson.

"We have a breaking story," he told the crowd. "Donald Trump has fallen to second place behind Ben Carson. We informed Ben, but he was sleeping."
