Tropical Storm Bertha Strengthens Leaving The Bahamas
MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Tropical Storm Bertha quickly strengthened as it moved away from the Bahamas Sunday night.
The storm's center, as of the 11:00 p.m. advisory, was about 190 miles east of Eleuthera Island.
Tropical Storm Bertha, as of Sunday night, had maximum sustained winds of 65 mph with higher gusts and is moving north-northwest at 17 mph.
There are no tropical storm warnings in effect.
Additional strengthening is anticipated in the next 48 hours as Bertha travels north. It is likely to become a hurricane Monday or Monday night if further strengthening continues.
Bertha is the 2014 Hurricane Season's second-named storm.
