Tropical Depression 12 Now Tropical Storm Karl

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Tropical Storm Karl has formed over the far eastern tropical Atlantic.
At 11 p.m., the center of the system was about 1305 miles northeast of Bermuda.
Karl was moving toward the west at 14 mph. A motion toward the west or west-southwest is expected for the next couple of days.
Maximum sustained winds are near 40 mph with higher gusts. Little change in strength is forecast Thursday evening. After that, Julia is forecast to weaken as it encounters unfavorable upper-level winds.
Maximum sustained winds have increased to near 45 mph with higher gusts. Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 160 miles, mainly to the northeast of the center.
Little change in strength is forecast during the next 48 hours.
There are no coastal watches or warnings in effect.
As for Julia, it was upgraded to a tropical storm again after losing steam earlier on Thursday.
