Tourist Dies Snorkeling In Key Largo

KEY LARGO (CBSMiami) -- An Ohio man has died while snorkeling off the coast of Key Largo.
Michael Schmidt, 65, from Cincinnati, was with his wife aboard a 42 foot catamaran for a snorkeling trip on Wednesday. They were both in the water when officials said Schmidt began having trouble.
Several people rushed to his aid after hearing his wife's call for help, including the vessel's mate who jumped in the water and towed him back to the boat.
They performed CPR until the Coast Guard arrived. Paramedics from Key Largo Fire Rescue took him to Mariner's Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
