Toddler Struck, Killed By Car In Deerfield Beach

FT LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) - Two months shy of his second birthday Neal Saxon's life was cut short on Sunday when the Broward Sheriff's Office says he ran in front of an SUV.
"He was a good kid," said the boy's aunt. "He loved to play."
Neal was in front of his grandmother's house in the 300 block of NW 4th Place playing with other children when he chased a ball into the street.
Investigators say the driver was traveling within the speed limit when the child ran into the roadway.
Neal was shorter than the bumper and it is unlikely that he would have been visible, according to investigators.
The toddler's family members see the accident differently, believing the driver was fleeing.
Witnesses say an angry mob ran after the driver and dragged her from her vehicle.
"She kept telling them it was an accident," witness Anthony Clay said.
Anthony Clay says he watched three men beat the driver and drag her back to the accident scene.
"She was bleeding and of course the family of the victim was screaming," said Clay. "It was chaotic."
The driver was taken to the hospital and suffered fractures to her face and head. She is not being charged because this is considered an accident by authorities.
At this point, the Broward Sheriff's Office said that none of the who beat her have been charged but it is an ongoing investigation.
