FORT LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) -- A fight at a Ft. Lauderdale nightclub over the weekend allegedly involved Miami Dolphins linebacker Koa Misi.

It happened Sunday around 3:41 a.m. at Cyn Nightclub. The report goes on to say that Misi and a group of friends got into an altercation with another group.

Police said just as things seemed to die down, and the groups were separate and leaving, Misi rushed back toward the front door and struck another man in the head, causing him to fall to the ground.

An officer was able to constrain Misi and sit him down. However, at that point, he said the 6'4" 250 lb football player then tried to make a break for it and flee.

Misi didn't get far. The officer reportedly performed a leg sweep to bring Misi down again.

Misi was cuffed and detained but not arrested.

The victim was treated in an ambulance but didn't press charges.

The Miami Dolphins have released a statement:

"We are aware of the reports involving Koa Misi and are continuing to gather information. "We have no further comment at this time."
