DAYTONA (CBSMiami) --- Hundreds of thousands of NASCAR fans will be on the edge of their seats Sunday, Feb. 21st for the annual DAYTONA 500 event.
Fans will have a different experience this year, thanks to the DAYTONA Rising reimagining project for the iconic speedway. With wider seats, upgraded amenities and unmatched sightlines, this is expected to be a race to remember.
Now here's something really cool. EarthCam construction cameras captured the entire redesign and shared a time-lapse movie of the process.
From September 2013 to January 2016, auto racing fans were able to keep track of DAYTONA Rising with EarthCam's construction cameras. Over 28 months, more than one million HD images were captured by a combination eight EarthCam robotic HD construction webcams and megapixel panoramic cameras.
Now, you can witness the transformation of the Daytona International Speedway at high speed with their time-lapse movie.
