MIAMI (CBSMiami) - Several people were rushed to the hospital after a violent crash in Palmetto Bay.
It happened overnight when the driver of a car slammed into a street light pole on U.S.1 at Hibiscus Street.
On impact, the engine area of car erupted in flames.
Arriving police officers used fire extinguishers as they pulled two of the three people in the car to safety. Firefighters were able to put the fire out and extricate the third person.
"its speed, it was doing well over one hundred (mph), the driver somehow lost control," said Martin Roda, who works at the Car Mart right across the street from where the crash occurred.
While the car lot's security cameras didn't captured the crash itself, they did record the aftermath - the car on fire and police, and firefighters, arriving.
"You see the big smoke, all the lights from police," said Roda, "Fire rescue just happens to be one block from here."
"We're lucky the car didn't end up inside the lot," he added. "I'm hoping that for the people to be okay" .
All three of the injured, in their late teens to early 20s, were taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital, no word on their condition.
Miami-Dade police said the car that crashed was stolen out of Miami Gardens during an armed carjacking.
