MIAMI LAKES (CBSMiami) -- Miami Lakes has a new mayor, ousting incumbent Michael Pizzi, who was acquitted in a bribery case back in 2014.
On Tuesday's runoff election, voters opted for new blood - Councilman Manny Cid.
According to our news partners the Miami Herald, Cid, 33, got 77 percent of the vote compared to Pizzi's 23 percent.
Pizzi, 53, was competing for his third term as mayor.
Back in 2013, he was indicted causing him to be removed from office. Pizzi was charged in an undercover FBI operation with accepting $6,000 in illegal cash and campaign contributions. A year later, he was acquitted of all charges. He eventually filed a lawsuit in order to be reinstated as mayor in 2015.
Pizzi, who was first elected mayor in 2008, said he accepts the results and believes Cid will be an outstanding mayor.
"I'm proud that I'm leaving the town in great shape for the new administration," Pizzi told the paper.
