FT LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) - Three teenagers accused of leading Fort Lauderdale police on a slow speed chase Wednesday have been ordered held for 21 days in juvenile detention.

Two are 14 years old and the third is15 years old.

Police say all three carjacked a Fort Lauderdale woman Tuesday night and were spotted in her stolen Dodge Journey Wednesday afternoon.

Police say the trio refused to stop and took off with a line of squad cars following in a slow speed pursuit.

Finally, one by one they bailed out of the stolen car, bringing the chase to an end.

Twenty-four hours after the takedown, the parents of the accused 14-year-old driver begged a judge to release him from juvenile detention and send him home on house arrest.

"He probably made a mistake. He's doing good in school and deserves a chance," said his father.

"He's been hanging with the wrong crowd and made wrong decisions," his mother told the judge.

But Judge Carlos Rebollo told them the charges were serious and ordered both 14 year olds held for 21 days in juvenile detention

Earlier in the day, the 15-year-old was also ordered held for 21 days.

They're facing a number of charges, including armed carjacking, resisting arrest and fleeing the scene of an accident.
