ORLANDO (CBSMiami/AP) - A central Florida middle school teacher is accused of exchanging sexual messages with a 14-year-old female student using social media sites like Kik and SnapChat.
Alyson London, 44, was arrested Friday and faces multiple charges including solicitation to commit sexual battery, failure to report child abuse as a mandatory reporter and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
London, a physical education teacher at Apopka Memorial Middle School, reportedly began messaging the teen last year.
When the teen's mother found out about the messages she had her daughter removed from London's class and school officials ordered London not to have any more contact with her. But London and the girl remained in contact and the relationship grew.
The teen reportedly told London she had been raped, "stabbed with needles" and drugged at school, according to the Orlando Sentinel. London did not report the alleged abuse as required by law.
Police discovered London exchanged roughly 129,000 text messages with the student, most of which were sexually explicit in nature. Investigators say some of the messages included discussions about sexual technique, rape, drugs and abuse.
Both the student and London denied having a sexual relationship.
