JUPITER (AP) — Michael Taylor's three-run homer proved to be all the Washington Nationals needed Wednesday in a 4-2 win over the Miami Marlins.
Miami starter Wei-Yin Chen cruised through the first two innings, but the Nationals solved him in the third. He retired the first seven Washington batters before Trea Turner reached on an infield single. That started a run of five consecutive hits.
Ben Revere's single drove in Turner. Taylor followed with his second homer of spring training, a three-run shot that cleared the right field wall.
Miami scored both its runs in the sixth. Dee Gordon tripled for the second consecutive day, driving in Destin Hood, then raced home on a wild pitch.
Nationals shortstop Danny Espinosa ended a 0-for-17 start with a single through the left side, part of his two-hit afternoon.
In his spring debut, Marlins closer A. J. Ramos retired the side in order in the ninth.
