MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- Dolphins Quarterback Ryan Tannehill gave a 10-year old cancer patient the surprise of his life on Wednesday.

Josue Cruz is patient at Chris Evert Children's Hospital at Broward Health Medical Center in Fort Lauderdale.

Cruz was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma in April 2014 and underwent chemotherapy and radiation.

On Cruz's final day of chemotherapy, Tannehill and his wife stopped by a party thrown for Cruz by the hospital staff.

The Tannehills gave Cruz and his family tickets to his Thursday evening home game against the Buffalo Bills.

Cruz along with his parents and little brother will be going to the game as Tannehill's special guests.

"This experience was an absolute dream come true for my son," said Cruz's mom, Elaine Cruz.

Tannehill and Cruz met over the summer at the pro-quarterback's ProCamps Worldwide event.  The two have held a special bond ever since.

"Josue's determination is a true inspiration," said Ryan Tannehill. "He has been through so much yet he still has this amazing spirit. I'm amazed at how someone so young could be that strong. Josue is a real hero."

Watch Miami take on the Buffalo Bills this Thursday at 8 p.m. on CBS4, your official Dolphins station! Kick off is at 8:25 p.m.
