Man Killed In SW Miami-Dade Shooting
MIAMI (CBSMiami) – The Miami-Dade Police Department is investigating after a man was killed in a shooting Wednesday afternoon.
According to MDPD, around 4:55 p.m., officers responded to a shooting at the Seasons apartment complex in Southwest Miami-Dade, near 149 Avenue and SW 80 Street.
"I'm in shock," says Mireya, who lives at the complex. "The moment I was arriving to my apartment, to my house, it was impossible. When I saw all the police, I thought 'Uh-oh, something bad is happening.'"
Upon arrival, police found 43-year-old Luis Hernandez who had been shot. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue pronounced him dead on the scene.
The preliminary investigation revealed Hernandez had just arrived home from doing some errands and was exiting his vehicle when he was approached by the suspect.
Police believe the motive was possible armed robbery.
"If anybody were to see at 5:00, there is a lot of movement going around, if they had seen a vehicle driving erratically-- perhaps you didn't know what was going on-- but now you know that someone was murdered here at the apartment complex," says Detective Alvaro Zabaleta. "No matter how small the information, we want you to call Crimestoppers."

Detectives do not have a description of the shooter, which is why they are urging anyone to come forward with information.
Neighbors say this brazen shooting has them saddened for Hernandez's family and fearful of their own safety.
"He has a kid," says neighbor Luciana Dorado. "It's kind of, like, shocking what happened here, because this is a really calm neighborhood."
