Suspect Surrenders Florida Police Dog Death

ST. AUGUSTINE (CBSMiami/AP) - The manhunt is over for the person suspected of drowning a St. Johns County Sheriff's Office dog.

The St. Johns County Sheriff's Office says 26-year-old Brandon Allison turned himself in Wednesday after a nearly 24-hour search.

The Florida Times-Union reports that Allison was initially being tracked by a K-9 early Tuesday after neighbors at a subdivision reported a disturbance.

Once the police dog, named Baron, took off after Allison, the dog's handler said noises came from the woods, including a man yelling.

The dog was later found floating dead in a swampy area nearby, the apparent victim of a drowning.
