Tropical Storm Warning Issued For Carolinas

MIAMI (CBSMiami) - A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for a portion of the Carolina as subtropical storm Ana continues to meander of their coast.

At 11 PM the center of the system was about 140 miles southeast of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

Ana had maximum sustained winds of 60 mph and was heading north at 2 mph.

A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect from South Santee River, South Carolina to Cape Lookout, North Carolina.

A Tropical Storm Watch is in effect from Edisto Beach, South Carolina to South of South Santee River.

A turn toward the northwest with a slight increase in forward speed is expected by the weekend.

Some slight strengthening is forecast during the next day or so. Although Ana is expected to make the transition to a tropical storm later today, only small changes in strength are expected while the storm approaches the coastine over the next couple of days.

Ana is expected to produce rainfall accumulations of 2 to 4 inches over eastern portions of North Carolina and South Carolina through the weekend. Swells generated by Ana are affecting portions of the southeastern U.S. coast. These swells are likely to cause life- threatening surf and rip currents.
