MIAMI (CBSMiami) — The "Late Show With Stephen Colbert" will be mining for comedic gold — going live during the political conventions.

The show is hoping to bring its irreverent tough the proceedings and to its viewers.

Viewers should get ready for some conventional wisdom.

"It will be the yuuuugest thing that's happened in Cleveland next to setting the river of fire," Colbert said.

It will be brought to you by the Dean of Late Night Talk Show Politics — Stephen Colbert.

"The Dean. Hmmm I like 'the Dean,'" Colbert said, "I'll go with Provost. As the Provost of late night."

Starting next week when Donald does Cleveland and continuing the week after when Hillary does Philly.

"Honest to God, nobody knows what's going to happen next week," Colbert said.

The Late Show With Stephen Colbert will be doing its shows from the Ed Sullivan Theater live at 11:35 as opposed to its customary pre-tape.

This will give his Colbertness the ability to immediately wax political on any and all convention developments and on all things Clinton and Trump.

"We're gonna have jokes every night on what happened that night," he said.

Colbert said the comedic potential to feed on politics is virtually all you can eat.

So does that make Colbert feel like a pig at the trough?

"I'm complimented that you would call me a pig at the trough, that's very nice. Thank you very much," Colbert said.

It's something the comedian said he relishes.

"This is the bonus round, and that's why we want to go live. We don't want to leave anything on the table at the end of the day. We want to get all the meat off the chicken every day," he said.

He said that his fondest political fantasy at this year's convention involves Hillary Clinton.

"Oh, if she picked Bill to be the V.P. wouldn't that be nice. We already have the jokes written," he said.

Hey, he can dream can't he?

CBS4 will also have lives coverage from the conventions available throughout the day, including at 11 p.m. Then be sure to tune-in to Colbert at 11:35 p.m.
