Report: State Department To Recommend Cuba's Removal From Terrorism List

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – The State Department is expected to recommend Cuba be removed from the state sponsors of terrorism list, according to CNN.
If Cuba is removed from the list, it would get rid of a huge stumbling block in the establishment of embassies in Havana and Washington D.C.
An announcement could come as early as Wednesday, according to CNN.
Secretary of State John Kerry would then take the request to President Barack Obama who said he would act quickly.
If the president does accept the state department's recommendation, Congress then has 45-days to approve it.
Other countries on that list include Iran, Sudan, and Syria. North Korea was removed from the list in 2008.
Both President Obama and Raul Castro will both attend the Summit of the Americas later this week.
