South Floridians Feeling The Freeze
MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- It was a second night of chilly temperatures across South Florida.
On Miami Beach, Art Deco weekend got off to a cool start. Many bundled up to walk along Ocean Drive. Some really piled on the layers.
"My friend lent me his shirt so I have sweat pants, a sweatshirt, a sweater, a scarf," explained Lisa Tuoni, who recently moved to Florida. "I thought I was going to be wearing a bikini," she told CBS4's Maggie Newland.
Others seemed unfazed by the cold, especially visitors.
"This is a heat wave here," said Michael DeCook, who is visiting from New York. "We came from 18 degrees and now it's 65 so we're good," added his son Matthew.
When asked whether he thought it was cold, Marc Antuen replied, "Absolutely not, I came from Canada. It was minus 35 last week."
After arriving from Australia, Laura Wetzel had to buy a hat.
"I would love to have much more sun," she said.
Most South Floridians are embracing our weekend of winter even if it is a big change.
"I'm not used to it anymore," said Bruce Carrington. "I'm from the North and now I've been living here 20 years. It's fresh though it's beautiful."
