South Florida's Germany Fans Celebrate World Cup Victory
MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Fans of the World Cup gathered in South Florida to watch Germany take on Argentina for the title.
With Miami area's Argentine population estimated at 100,000 people, the match was hugely popular.
At Manolo's Restaurant on Miami Beach, the crowd yelled "vamos a ganar" or "we are going to win".
Yet with one goal, the Argentina party in Miami was over.
It was a goal in overtime that finally put Germany ahead of Agentina.
The overflow crowd watched the game from a public amphitheater across the street from Manolo's.
At Fritz and Franz Bierhaus in Coral Gables where Germany fans gathered to watch the match, the scene was the opposite with cheering fans and celebration.
A German flag hangs outside of the business, a symbol of victory.
"Fourth star, fourth title, happiness," said a Germany fan.
The victory celebration continued well into the night.
"I've been waiting for this moment since I was 11 years old in 2006. my first heart-break when they lost. I've been waiting for this. We are World Cup champions," said Arielle Aujack.
