Potential flooding during this weekend sparks NEXT Weather Alert for parts of South Florida
MIAMI — Heavy rainfall creates potential for some localized flooding, particularly in southern/central Miami-Dade County.
A small, localized area of low pressure is currently swirling off the coast of southwest Florida and will continue to bring widespread rain through the area during the day with the potential for isolated storms.
The heaviest of the rain looks like it will set up in southern and central Miami-Dade County, where a level 1 (out of 5) risk for flooding exists today.
In those locations, amounts of 2-4+ inches are possible, with some short-range forecast models showing as much as 7+ inches possible in some localized spots.
Expect conditions to improve by this evening, with much drier conditions by 7 p.m. - 8 p.m.
