MIAMI BEACH (CBSMiami) -- Police have apprehended two individuals in a series of armed robberies overnight along South Beach and are looking for two others.
Miami Beach Police said four robberies occurred overnight in the area.
Three of those incidents were carried out by the two suspects who were later apprehended, authorities said. The crooks drove up and jumped out of their vehicle, confronted victims on the street with a handgun, took their property and drove off.
The first happened at 1:37 a.m. near Park Avenue and 19th Street. The second, less than an hour later, happened near Lincoln Road and Drexel Avenue. About 10 minutes after that robbery, at 2:35 a.m., another occurred near 6th Street and Jefferson Avenue.
Two Hispanic males from Hialeah were stopped by patrol units and the Robbery Squad at 17th Street and Alton Road just five minutes after that third incident. A gun and the stolen items were all recovered and returned to the victims.
A fourth robbery was unrelated. It happened at 3:10 a.m. at 3rd Street and Meridian Avenue.
Police said two suspects assaulted and robbed some people on the street and then took off in a car.
The victims were treated at Mt. Sinai for non-life threatening injuries.
Although the suspects got away, police said they do have promising leads.
