Sources ID Teen Shot In Miami Gardens

MIAMI GARDENS (CBSMiami) -- A 15-year old boy remains hospitalized Monday after being shot in a Miami Gardens neighborhood.

CBS4 News sources have identified the teen as Royce Simmons.

Simmons was shot around 7pm Sunday night at 21030 NW 39th Avenue.

Neighbors found Simmons on the ground with at least two gunshot wounds.

He was airlifted to the Jackson Memorial Hospital's Ryder Trauma Center in critical condition.

Chekevia Harris knew the victim and said she heard the shots.

"I heard the gun shots and I came out the door. I got in my car. I went around the block and I seen the little boy on the ground and he was balled up so what I did is I got on my knees and I went all the way on the floor and I went to grab his hands and all I could do was pray and call on Jesus' name," said Harris.

Police are still looking for the gunman.
